Browns Lose to Bears. Will Go 0-16.

Numb. I’m simply numb. The Browns traveled to the Windy City on Christmas Eve, hoping to capture their first win of 2017. They left defeated 20-3. They lost to a fucking shit Bears team, and it looked as if they were playing a Super Bowl contender. A 3 win team looked miles ahead of the beleaguered Browns.

There’s really no point in breaking down the game, stats, or anything similar. It’s over. They looked like dog shit. This next week the Browns will travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. This past game against Chicago was our last hope, and it was stomped on.

They did however, fall ass-backwards into the first overall draft pick this year. Hooray? Some fans would be excited to have the chance to draft so high, and potentially find a franchise player whether it’d be a Quarterback, elite Pass Rusher, or a skilled receiver.

I hate it. The first overall pick absolutely sucks. 0-16 is even more gut wrenching. The Browns also hold a second top 5 pick thanks to the Deshaun Watson trade with Houston. A sad, sad consolation prize.

@Browns just make it stop please!!! Some teams hope for playoff births, playoff bye’s, or Super Bowl runs. I just wanted one lousy god-damn win. They simply could not get it done in 2017. Let’s just pray to the Football gods that 0-16 is FINALLY rock bottom. You know it’s bad when you’d gladly sacrifice a limb for more points than the other team when the clock hits 0:00.

They’ve sucked since ’99, and fans like myself always thought, “It can’t get worse, can it?”. Well, it always got worse. From Brady Quinn, to Colt McCoy. Butch Davis, to Eric Mangini. Johnny Manziel and Justin Gilbert, and many more names. It always got worse without fail. Maybe this time is the charm? I sure hope so. Who the fuck knows, 1. who we’ll pick, and 2. if pick would even want to play for the Browns?

So, tune in on New Years Eve to witness some history! The Browns will turn their head, and cough for the Super Bowl primed Steelers, at Heinz Field. Browns fans, brace yourself for memes, losing statistics, and retread jokes. It’s going to be really hard for me to come back from a black mark like 0-16, but I’ll never fully give up hope.

Part of what makes being a Browns fan fun, is thinking about how awesome it would be if the ever managed to be good. I reckon it’d be the best feeling sports could offer (besides Big Z hoisting Lord Stanley of course). Hang in there Browns fans, only one week of hell left.

For the last time in 2017, let’s go Brownies!

James Harrison Officially a Patriot

It didn’t take long for the rumors to turn into reality. James Harrison posted on Instagram announcing he will be signing with the Patriots for the remainder of the season. The terms of the agreement haven’t been released but the move will most likely be for 1 year and then a retirement announcement from Harrison.

The Patriots aren’t asking much from him but lets hope he has 4 games left in him.

Eagles Clinch #1 Seed in the NFC

On the last Monday Night Football game on the year, the Eagles managed to wrap up homefield advantage throughout the playoffs after beating the Raiders 19-10. Maybe the worst performance in a win to wrap up the #1 seed but I’m sure they’ll take it.  The Eagles wrap up the season against Dallas in a meaningless game for both teams so I’m sure some starters will be rested but Philly remains the only team to not be beaten at home, which does not bode well for the rest of the NFC.

The NFC, of course, is loaded with talent and any one of those teams can make it to the Super Bowl.

Capture.PNG

If you told me one of these teams would make the Super Bowl (outside of Atlanta & Seattle), I wouldn’t be surprised. Having these teams have to come through a cold Philadelphia atmosphere in the playoffs is definitely a positive for the Eagles but Foles is going to have to play better if they’re going to win in January. He finished Monday night going 19-38, 163 yds and 1 TD. No chance that wins any games in the playoffs unless the defense plays out of their mind — the same defense which got EXPOSED again, this time by Amari Cooper en route to an easy 60 yd TD. They did hold the Raiders, who have been an awful underachieving team this year, to 10 points so there is some improvement there.

Also: stat of the year?

Foles, Keenum, and Goff — the Jeff Fisher effect.

DeAndre Hopkins Easily Had the Catch of the Year on Christmas

On Christmas night, with nobody really watching — the Texans found themselves down 27-0 to the Steelers.  On a meaningless drive, Yates found DeAndre Hopkins mugged in the endzone corner —

From the angle shown live, it looks like Hopkins wasn’t able to get both his feet in for what was an amazing catch but then we saw the replay..

He gains possession and then still manages to toe-tap while the defender is interfering with him. Doesn’t even look real. Unreal play and I think this has the potential to beat out the OBJ catch. The only issue, which has been the issue with Hopkins most of his career is that it was a meaningless TD in the 4th quarter of a game that was already decided. Hopkins is easily one of the best WR in the NFL but he’s caught passes from 10 QBs in 3 years which pretty much explains his circumstances. Obviously — things look brighter on the horizon with Watson coming back but he managed to snag this TD for TJ Yates who did not deserve at all.

Catch of the year easy and we’ll wait for the recency bias to leave before we deem this better than OBJ’s.

Mark Ingram & Alvin Kamara are first RB Pro-Bowl Duo in 42 years

You have to go all the way back to the St. Louis Cardinals duo of Jim Otis and Terry Metcalf in 1975 to find another RB tandem that made the Pro Bowl together. Now we’re not even going to pretend to know who those guys are since they’re now irrelevant but I’m a little surprised the tandem of DeAngelo Williams & Jonathan Stewart never made it. Nonetheless, this is a huge accomplishment to a backfield that most people were ready to give to Adrian Peterson (ha.ha.) when the season started. The Saints obviously started off 0-2 and tons of people were ready to write them off. Nobody had even really heard of Alvin Kamara before the seasons tarted.

With the Saints primed for a divisional championship, you would expect Drew Brees to have the historic numbers he always has had. This season however, he’s kind of taken a backseat to let his backs do the punching for the Saints offense. Both Ingram & Kamara have had stud seasons. Ingram is sporting 1,045 yards and 11 TDs while the front-runner for rookie of the year has done it through the air and ground. Kamara has 652 yds, 7 TDs rushing while recording 684 yds and 5 TDs receiving. Of course, the Pro Bowl is always a consolation prize to a Super Bowl trip so the Saints would love to see these guys not be able to play — but still a huge accomplishment. The only worry for the Saints now is that if Ingram is selected to the first All-Pro team, he has a clause to be released from his contract — which is a great idea to cash in (shoutout whoever his agent is).

Bill Belichick Restricts access for Tom Brady’s Trainer

After weeks of speculation, it appears that we are able to confirm that the New England Patriots have stripped Tom Brady’s trainer Alex Guerrero of various team privileges.

Since 2013, Tom has trained and received medical treatment for Alex. The two are partner’s in Brady’s TB12 Center, which is located next to Gillette stadium. Part of the problem might be that Guerrero is now treating more players on the Patriots roster and that is causing friction between Alex and the Patriots training staff.

According to the Globe, Guerrero, who has an office near the Patriots’ locker room in Gillette Stadium, is no longer permitted to treat players other than Brady in the office. He also is reportedly banned from boarding Patriots team planes and no longer has sideline access.

Although, Guerrero is now restricted within the locker room, he is still allowed to meet with Patriot players, but it will have to happen at the TB12 facility. A player receiving treatment from a person other than the teams’ trainer isn’t something that is uncommon, but for a personal trainer to cause friction and ultimately get banned from a team is what makes this story peculiar.

This story isn’t over and as more leaks get made public, we will find out more information. No matter how you spin this story all parties come out looking bad in the end.

Browns Lose, Browns Lose, Browns Lose

Image result for Browns vs. Ravens 2017

Week 15 has come and gone in the NFL, and the Cleveland Browns have lost another Football game.  I have be re-iterating all year that they are losing winnable games.  This past Sunday was not winnable.  The Baltimore Ravens traveled to Cleveland, and bent the Browns over.

Image result for Kizer fumble ravens

DeShone Kizer accounted for 3 total turnovers on the day.  2 interceptions, and 1 fumble.  The game started off tame enough with the Ravens opening up the scoring with a Justin Tucker 31 yard field goal.  Duke Johnson answered for the Browns with a 12 yard touchdown run off tackle.  The Browns were winning 7-3.

The Ravens rattled off two touchdown drives in a row to answer.   A 2 yard Joe Flacco run, and a 33 yard Ben Watson catch.  Just before the second  quarter ended, Zane Gonzalez added a field goal to make it 17-10 Ravens at the half.  This would be a close as it ever came.  The Ravens added another touchdown and field goal in the second half to make it 27-10.

5 Positives:

  1. The Browns Ran the ball well, amassing 130 yards from Crowell, Johnson, and Kizer.  This bodes well for them in these next two games.  Running the ball is absolutely vital to getting a win.
  2. The Defense did not play as well as they had in the past, but they still kept the Browns within earshot.  While this season has been absolutely miserable, it’s good to know some aspects of the team are headed in the right direction.
  3. Only two more weeks left.
  4. Marvin Lewis will step down as Head Coach of the Cincinnati Bengals.  Hue Jackson’s days are numbered, as it is being reported that Hue is wanted back in Cincy.  Good luck assholes.
  5. This week is Super Bowl Week (Explain in a bit)

^ I think it moved?

Well, here we are Browns fans.  One last week coming up to get a win.  My beloved Brownies head into Chicago to face the 4-10 Bears.  This is it.  This likely the last shot the 2017-2018 Cleveland Browns will have at winning a football game.  While the public will be taking a collective dump over both teams, especially the Browns, this game is one of the more important game for me in some years.  Just win a fucking game.  The prospect of 0-16 is fucking miserable.  I do not wish it on fans of my biggest rival.  Time for Hue Jackson to shut his fucking pie hole, and coach this team up for a win.  I need this one more than any other football game, because 0-16 is something that will be nearly impossible to come back from.   Something’s gotta give, right?

As always, Go Browns!!

Aaron Rodgers Placed on IR

Aaron Rodgers’ return was cut short. He will be placed on IR due to a broken collarbone. With the Packers sitting at 7-7, they are officially eliminated from the playoffs. Green Bay will rest their star QB for next year.

The rest of the Packers’ season will be in the hands of Brett Hundley who has a record of 3-5 since taking over for Rodgers. He continued to comment on Brett Hundley he said it is a great opportunity for Hundley who gets to make his starts against division opponents.

Week 15 — Top 10 Power Rankings

What a week — my #1, #2 & #4 teams all lost and #3 won the game but lost their QB for the season to an ACL tear. Pretty much sums up how volatile this year has been. Tough to quantify the top 5 teams right now as who knows what’s going to happen this weekend. The Patriots-Steelers showdown at Heinz Field is sure to let us know a ton about the AFC race — and let’s not forget the Jaguars who won a big statement. Let’s take a stab at some sort of Top 10.

Image result for new england patriots

  1.  New England Patriots (10-3) (LW: #1)

Had to do it — even despite the loss. The Patriots dropped a Monday night divisional game against the Dolphins, where Tom Brady is 7-9 all-time (don’t know if you heard this stat this week).  Not to mention that they were missing their best weapon due to suspension. The Patriots are still the best team in the NFL and will prove it by taking the win against a Steelers team in Pittsburgh. If they don’t? Well then they’re in trouble.

Image result for pittsburgh steelers

2. Pittsburgh Steelers (11-2) (LW: #5)

The Steelers are the only top 5 team that won this week (minus the Eagles) — so by default they have to deserve atleast the 2 spot. This sets up essentially a winner-take-all homefield advantage game on Sunday evening. This one’s going to be good as the Steelers just squeeked out a win against the Ravens. Will the Patriots be able to stop Bell & Brown? Tune in.

Image result for philadelphia eagles3. Philadelphia Eagles (10-3) (LW: #3)

The Eagles may have won the game against the Rams and were well on their way to making a statement before Wentz went out of the game with what we later found on to be a torn ACL. Devastating stuff for not only the Eagles but NFL fans as well. Wentz was a stud this year and was trending toward winning the MVP. Now his Eagles are left in the hands of Nick Foles — which could be much worse. The Eagles should hang out to home-field advantage but nobody can be too happy in

Image result for minnesota vikings4. Minnesota Vikings (10-3) (LW: #2)

The Vikings lost a tough game in Carolina where they were playing catch-up the entire game.  They did bring it within striking distance only to watch Cam rip off a long run and Jonathan Stewart to have a career game. This team is still good despite the 8 game win streak being snapped. Can Case Keenum get it done and possibly secure the 1 seed? A game with the Packers and Aaron Rodgers looms in Week 16. This weekend? The Bengals have never won a game in Minnesota (0-5 all time).

5. Jacksonville Jaguars (9-4) (LW: #7)

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: It is mid-December and the Jacksonville Jaguars are 9-4. No you haven’t? Neither have we. The Jaguars kept their cool and defeated Seattle in what felt like a playoff game. If Bortles can keep it under control, these Jaguars are legit. Trying to sneak into a first round bye, they will happily enjoy being the 3 seed in the playoffs. They close out with an easy schedule before taking on the Titans in a possible division clinching matchup in Week 17.

6. New Orleans Saints (9-4) (LW: #4)Image result for new orleans saints

The Saints lost on Thursday night against the Falcons in a thriller. The game was ugly but the Saints were in the position to win when Drew Brees was picked off in the end-zone with a minute to go. It’s safe to say they probably would have won this if Kamara wasn’t knocked out with a concussion on the first drive. If doesn’t exist, and the Saints find themselves right back in the thick of an NFC South race.

7. Carolina Panthers (9-4) (LW: #9)

I will whole-heartedly admit that I have no idea what to do with the Panthers. This team can beat the best of the NFL when they’re on (see: Patriots, Vikings) but can’t seem to crack the Saints at all. Cam Newton proved once again that he’s an extremely dangerous weapon. Do teams want to play the Panthers in the playoffs? I don’t think so — but in reality I have no idea. Either way, they’re 9-4 and once again tied with the Saints. Next on their plate? The return of Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, we’re excited.

8. Los Angeles Rams (9-4)  (LW: #6)

The Rams had a chance to make a big statement in a shootout against the Eagles. Of course, the big story here is the Wentz injury and not the fact that the Rams lost to a NFC contender at home. Their offense is still pretty legit but can they compete with the big dogs? Not too sure. A rematch against the Seahawks will tell us a lot about this team.

Image result for atlanta falcons

9. Atlanta Falcons (8-5) (LW: NR)

Well look who we have here — the Falcons played their worst football in the beginning of the season and are starting to roll at the right time. There’s no time that would love to get back to the Super Bowl more than the Falcons to write the wrongs of last year. They sit in the last wildcard spot of an extremely competitive NFC race. They do control their destiny and have one more game against the Saints to end the season — so the NFC South is definitely in reach.

Image result for los angeles chargers

10. Los Angeles Chargers (7-6)  (LW: NR)

The hottest team in the NFL behind the Steelers? The Chargers, who started off 0-4 have rattled off 4 straight wins.. They have a huge game that may determine the AFC West this Saturday against the Chiefs in Arrowhead. A win here and well .. watch out for the Chargers. Rivers & Keenen Allen are starting to look like a deadly duo.

JUST MISSED: Seattle Seahawks (8-5) (LW: #8),  Kansas City Chiefs (7-6), Baltimore Ravens (7-6) (LW: #10)
