Jared Goff buys his O-Line Yeti Coolers and Hennessey

Rams — so hot right now. After a 42-7 (and honestly shouldn’t have even been 7) dismantling of division rival Seahawks, Jared Goff went out and rewarded his lineman for the great season that they’re having. The Rams, as you know, had the worst offense in the NFL last year.  Sitting at 10-4, with one of the most explosive offenses — life is now much better in LA than it was last year. A big part of that is obviously first year head coach Sean McVay but a lot of credit has to go to Goff and his offensive line.

We see this every year when QBs reward their lineman for not allowing them to get killed. Goff went out and got these boys Yeti Coolers and Hennessey to put in them — love the move. The two coolers together are worth $800 so not an overly expensive gift but still Yeti Coolers are awesome. Granted Zeke got his lineman last year golf carts..

But I like the move by Goff. Gotta start small and then raise your gift game.

Sidenote — If you’re Russell Wilson, do you just not get them anything? Something to keep an eye on.

Bruins Beat 12/20

Well, well, well folks.  It has been quite a few weeks for the Boston Bruins.  After rattling off 8 wins in 10 games to start December, The Bruins lost to both the Washington Capitals, and New York Rangers this past weekend.  They lost to the Caps 5-3, and 3-2 in overtime to the Blueshirts. In both games, the Bruins played well enough to win.  They just can’t seem to beat either team in the regular season.

The B’s just cannot find a way to beat either team.  After winning quite a few in a row, things seemed to be cooling down.  Not with this years Bruins teams.  They did not fold, or enter a rut like many a Claude Julien Coached team.  This past week the Bruins got back-to-back wins at the expense of the Columbus Blue Jackets, and Buffalo Sabres.

Monday night saw Metropolitan Division foe Blue Jackets enter TD Garden.  From the very second the puck dropped, the Bruins were all over the Jackets.   Red hot right winger Brad Marchand opened up the scoring, shoveling home Patrice Bergeron’s slick feed.  After 1 period it was 1-0 B’s.

The second period saw the Bruins continue to hound the Jackets.  Veteran Center David Backes added his third goal of his young season, and rookie of the year candidate Charlie McAvoy notched his 5th goal of the season.   McAvoy would later collect an assist, and take part in his first NHL fight.  It was a Gordie Howe hat-trick at TD Garden!

Leading 3-0 earlier in the third period Columbus finally got on the board.  Josh Anders potted his 13th of the year to make it 3-1.  That’s when this young Bruins team turned it on.  They drove the nails into the proverbial coffin.  Rookie standout Danton Heinen scored his 8th goal of the year.   Torey Krug blasted home his 5th shortly after.  Patrice Bergeron and Jake Debrusk notched goals each to make it 7-1.  Columbus would get a garbage time goal from Seth Jones before the game had ended.  7-2 final.

Last night was a little bit different for the up and coming Bruins.  They traveled up to Buffalo to meet the dreadful Sabres.  It was the Bruins second game in two nights with young legs it shouldn’t be too much to handle the Sabres.

There was a bit of a revenge factor, as the Bruins had blown a 3-1 lead at home to the Sabres earlier this season.  This time the Sabres were shut down by a man named Dobby.  Bruins backup Goaltender Anton Khudobin played the back end of this back-to-back stretch.  He would not disappoint.  For most of the first, and second period Buffalo was flying.  They clearly had more energy than the youthful B’s.  Never fear, as for the first time in years the Bruins have a solid backup who can win them some games.  Dobby stopped 31 shots on 31 attempts.  He was flawless, keeping the Bruins on life-support.  Finally, mid-way through the second period, Jake Debrusk notched his 8th goal of the season to open up the scoring.

Dobby and the Bruins defense would hang tough in the 3rd, surviving the Sabre’s onslaught.  4th liner Tim Schaller, and David Backes both netted empty net goals to seal the game.

The Bruins finish off their three games in four nights stretch on Thursday when the Winnipeg Jets come to TD Garden.  It is finally looking like the past few seasons of mediocrity are paying off for the Bruins.  Young guys are playing massive roles on this team night in night out.  Each game there is a new guy.  One steady constant though, my man Butchy!

Let’s go Bruins!

Rays Trade Evan Longoria to Giants

Breaking news: The Tampa Bay Rays and the San Francisco Giants have agreed on a trade that will send 3B Evan Longoria and cash to the Giants for 3B Christian Arroyo and OF Denard Span along with prospects LHP Matt Krook & Stephen Woods.

Bad news for Pablo Sandoval, looks like hes out of a job again. This now gives the Giants another big bat in their lineup to go along with Buster Posey.

For the Rays, they get a young player who has great upside and a veteran CF that they can plug in for a year. The Rays also shed Longoria’s contract and even though its a bargain it will still help lower their payroll.

In the end, it looks like both sides win. I would give a slight edge to the Giants because Longoria is a stud and will help them immediately.

Isaiah Thomas Scrimmaging with Cavs G-League Team

Don’t look now but Isaiah Thomas is inching closer to playing his first game as a Cavalier.

Thomas, who injured his hip in last years Eastern Conference Playoffs, is reportedly going to scrimmage with the Cavs G-League affiliate this week, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

It appears that the plan is for Thomas to participate in his first five-on-five practice with the Canton Charge, in either the Cavs’ practice facility or in Canton. This will be Isaiah’s first real competitive test in his rehab since joining the Cavs back in August.

There still is no definitive date for his return, but Isaiah made a comment that he’d like to return in early January. As it turns out the Cavs play the Celtics on January 3rd.. revenge game anyone?

Britton to Miss at Least Six Months

Orioles’ closer Zach Britton will miss at least six months due to a serious injury this offseason. The Orioles all-star who was on the disabled list for two months last season due to a left forearm strain, will now be out after rupturing his Achilles tendon while working out. The Orioles were in hopes of trading Britton this season, which now derails their plans to do so. Britton is eligible for free agency at the end of the 2019 season.

Mark Ingram & Alvin Kamara are first RB Pro-Bowl Duo in 42 years

You have to go all the way back to the St. Louis Cardinals duo of Jim Otis and Terry Metcalf in 1975 to find another RB tandem that made the Pro Bowl together. Now we’re not even going to pretend to know who those guys are since they’re now irrelevant but I’m a little surprised the tandem of DeAngelo Williams & Jonathan Stewart never made it. Nonetheless, this is a huge accomplishment to a backfield that most people were ready to give to Adrian Peterson (ha.ha.) when the season started. The Saints obviously started off 0-2 and tons of people were ready to write them off. Nobody had even really heard of Alvin Kamara before the seasons tarted.

With the Saints primed for a divisional championship, you would expect Drew Brees to have the historic numbers he always has had. This season however, he’s kind of taken a backseat to let his backs do the punching for the Saints offense. Both Ingram & Kamara have had stud seasons. Ingram is sporting 1,045 yards and 11 TDs while the front-runner for rookie of the year has done it through the air and ground. Kamara has 652 yds, 7 TDs rushing while recording 684 yds and 5 TDs receiving. Of course, the Pro Bowl is always a consolation prize to a Super Bowl trip so the Saints would love to see these guys not be able to play — but still a huge accomplishment. The only worry for the Saints now is that if Ingram is selected to the first All-Pro team, he has a clause to be released from his contract — which is a great idea to cash in (shoutout whoever his agent is).

Bill Belichick Restricts access for Tom Brady’s Trainer

After weeks of speculation, it appears that we are able to confirm that the New England Patriots have stripped Tom Brady’s trainer Alex Guerrero of various team privileges.

Since 2013, Tom has trained and received medical treatment for Alex. The two are partner’s in Brady’s TB12 Center, which is located next to Gillette stadium. Part of the problem might be that Guerrero is now treating more players on the Patriots roster and that is causing friction between Alex and the Patriots training staff.

According to the Globe, Guerrero, who has an office near the Patriots’ locker room in Gillette Stadium, is no longer permitted to treat players other than Brady in the office. He also is reportedly banned from boarding Patriots team planes and no longer has sideline access.

Although, Guerrero is now restricted within the locker room, he is still allowed to meet with Patriot players, but it will have to happen at the TB12 facility. A player receiving treatment from a person other than the teams’ trainer isn’t something that is uncommon, but for a personal trainer to cause friction and ultimately get banned from a team is what makes this story peculiar.

This story isn’t over and as more leaks get made public, we will find out more information. No matter how you spin this story all parties come out looking bad in the end.

Turkey Seeking Four-Year Prison Sentence for Enes Kanter

Prosecutors are seeking more than four years in prison for New York Knicks’ player Enes Kanter. Earlier in May, Kanter posted several tweets when he was detained at a Romanian airport. One included saying that the Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is the “Hitler of our century”. The six year NBA veteran’s passport was cancelled and wasn’t able to return to American until U.S officials stepped in. Updates on this story should be available soon.

Browns Lose, Browns Lose, Browns Lose

Image result for Browns vs. Ravens 2017

Week 15 has come and gone in the NFL, and the Cleveland Browns have lost another Football game.  I have be re-iterating all year that they are losing winnable games.  This past Sunday was not winnable.  The Baltimore Ravens traveled to Cleveland, and bent the Browns over.

Image result for Kizer fumble ravens

DeShone Kizer accounted for 3 total turnovers on the day.  2 interceptions, and 1 fumble.  The game started off tame enough with the Ravens opening up the scoring with a Justin Tucker 31 yard field goal.  Duke Johnson answered for the Browns with a 12 yard touchdown run off tackle.  The Browns were winning 7-3.

The Ravens rattled off two touchdown drives in a row to answer.   A 2 yard Joe Flacco run, and a 33 yard Ben Watson catch.  Just before the second  quarter ended, Zane Gonzalez added a field goal to make it 17-10 Ravens at the half.  This would be a close as it ever came.  The Ravens added another touchdown and field goal in the second half to make it 27-10.

5 Positives:

  1. The Browns Ran the ball well, amassing 130 yards from Crowell, Johnson, and Kizer.  This bodes well for them in these next two games.  Running the ball is absolutely vital to getting a win.
  2. The Defense did not play as well as they had in the past, but they still kept the Browns within earshot.  While this season has been absolutely miserable, it’s good to know some aspects of the team are headed in the right direction.
  3. Only two more weeks left.
  4. Marvin Lewis will step down as Head Coach of the Cincinnati Bengals.  Hue Jackson’s days are numbered, as it is being reported that Hue is wanted back in Cincy.  Good luck assholes.
  5. This week is Super Bowl Week (Explain in a bit)

^ I think it moved?

Well, here we are Browns fans.  One last week coming up to get a win.  My beloved Brownies head into Chicago to face the 4-10 Bears.  This is it.  This likely the last shot the 2017-2018 Cleveland Browns will have at winning a football game.  While the public will be taking a collective dump over both teams, especially the Browns, this game is one of the more important game for me in some years.  Just win a fucking game.  The prospect of 0-16 is fucking miserable.  I do not wish it on fans of my biggest rival.  Time for Hue Jackson to shut his fucking pie hole, and coach this team up for a win.  I need this one more than any other football game, because 0-16 is something that will be nearly impossible to come back from.   Something’s gotta give, right?

As always, Go Browns!!

Aaron Rodgers Placed on IR

Aaron Rodgers’ return was cut short. He will be placed on IR due to a broken collarbone. With the Packers sitting at 7-7, they are officially eliminated from the playoffs. Green Bay will rest their star QB for next year.

The rest of the Packers’ season will be in the hands of Brett Hundley who has a record of 3-5 since taking over for Rodgers. He continued to comment on Brett Hundley he said it is a great opportunity for Hundley who gets to make his starts against division opponents.
