Electric stuff from the two time Finals winning champion coach and actually the first sign of being fun in Oakland has appeared. Sure there are still some Warriors sympathizers out there but everyone’s gotten to the point where we actually have to root for James Harden to make the Finals now — brutal.
Even I can enjoy a good laugh from the team that terrorizes the NBA. Good for them showing they’re human and cancelling practice for the day. This party probably did a better job on them than any of these western conference teams are going to come May & June.
It’s a gut punch that he’s going to the Dolphins and staying in the AFC East. Will the Patriots be fine? Of course they will. Belichick will pull the ball boy into the receiving corp and the engine will chug along per usual. Does it suck? Absolutely. Amendola, though not producing much in the regular season usually was always clutch when it mattered. Take a look at this year:
Easily the Patriots playoff MVP outside of #12. Can I blame Amendola, a 32 year old slot receiver with a history of injuries, for cashing in? I can’t. Right now it’s reported as a 2 year, 12 million dollar contract which is way more than the Patriots would have offered. The Patriots, per sources, had a chance to match and refused as their crowded receiving corp could not find a spot for ‘Dola. He will be missed and that two point conversion catch during the Falcons was the clincher to go into overtime. His best moment will still go down in Patriots’ history:
Is there anything this man can’t do? Sure the interview was a bit weird .. but he’s a weird guy. If there was any doubt in people’s minds that this was real — we got this tidbit from Mike Reiss earlier.
Don’t get me wrong — he definitely went to the bathroom to promptly throw up and not screw up his exclusively avocados and grass diet. But still, is there anything this man can’t do? I’ve never been more ready to ride with Tom Brady into the helm of the 2018 season.
Shorthanded again, Allen & Tyler sit down in a NBA exclusive episode to discuss all the hot topics in the NBA before the all-star break. Topics include the Cavs trade, Celtics struggles, and the return of Chris Bosh.
I’ve tried to defend LeBron — I really wanted to give him an honest chance because he’s easily one of the most talented athletes that we have ever seen? But this? This, I cannot get behind. I get the purpose…it’s essentially him writing a letter to his past self to congratulate his future self on an accomplishment. 30,000 points is no joke either.
LeBron wonders why he receives so much scrutiny — well here’s your reasoning. Did he forget to switch to his KD burner account? Probably not as his famous #striveforgreatness hashtag made an appearance. This man is by far the corniest player to grace the NBA — it’s just he combines it with being arguably one of the greatest of all time. It seems petty to call him out for something as simple as this but he just continues to push the narrative that people think of him.
P.S. – How great would it be if the Spurs somehow limited him to under 7 points? Would be an all-time NBA moment
Last night in New Orleans, DeMarcus Cousins joined Wilt Chamberlain in slim company. He became the first player to put up 40-20-10 in 50 years. He finished the game (although it ended in double overtime) with 44 points, 24 rebounds, 10 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block. He did play 52 minutes but this is still a monster stat line. AD also dropped 34 and it really is a wonder how the Pelicans can only manage to be a few games over .500.
Some of the players took to Twitter to congratulate Boogie on the Wilt stat-line.
No surprise here — the Patriots seem to play their best in the white jerseys so better to not ruin tradition. Little surprising because they are the home team in the game but this goes to show someone in the front office is a little superstitious.
Patriots will wear their road white jerseys in Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles, per @MikeReiss. The team wearing white jerseys has won the Super Bowl in 12 of the previous 13 seasons, per @EpKap.
The price that was paid to Arsenal was actually non-exist and we got a player-swap which actually is the only cool thing about this entire long and drawn out story. Henrikh Mkhitaryan heads over to Arsenal as the two player straight up swapped places. Alexis is obviously the prize here as he is one of the best players in the Premier League but he was leaving in the summer regardless so this was not a huge loss for Arsenal. Of course, the Gunners completely mismanaged the situation but to get Mkhitaryan isn’t the worst runner up prize.
Alexis is Champion League eligible and looks to boost Man United into a successful season.
Look at David Blatt weaseling his way into the spotlight! The ex-Cavs coach was in charge of Team Europe in the Turkey all-star game against Team Asia and took some shots at the Cavs after they let up 148 on Saturday.
And the result? Well Blatt’s Team Europe lost 151-142. It’s an all-star game so it clearly isn’t meant to be serious but it’s hard to not find humor in the irony of the statement. Even in Europe, Blatt continues to take L’s. I’m sure Ty Lue will be joining him in the ran-out-of-Cleveland by LeBron club shortly.
