Hall of Famer JoJo White Passes at 71 After Battle With Cancer

Hall of Famer and Boston Celtics Legend JoJo White passed away last night after a long battle with cancer. A former teammate of White’s told Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, who shared the news on Twitter.

JoJo was drafted 9th overall in the 1969 NBA draft by the Celtics. He was a standout point guard at Kansas from 1965-1969. His career with the Celtics lasted until 1978/79, where he was traded to the Golden State Warriors. He eventually retired in 1981 as a member of the Kansas City Kings.

Some of his playing accolades included being a 2x champion, Finals MVP and 7x All-Star. He was a gold medalist representing the United States basketball team in Mexico City in 1968. His number 10 was retired by the Celtics in in 1982 and his number 15 Kansas jersey was retired by the school.

JoJo was a true Celtic, he bled green and he will be missed. RIP Jojo White.
